He soon made a name for himself in the Tyrolean motorcycle scene with spectacular appearances at skijoring events in winter and motocross in summer. Subsequently, he also became increasingly well-known throughout Austria. The national championship title in 1978 on a Montesa 250cc is the highlight of his career for the time being. The second national championship title followed in 1980, this time on a Kramer-Rotax 250cc. Hansi made a name for himself internationally in 1983 with a 5th place in the 500cc World Championship race in Sittendorf on a Husqvarna. His motorsport career came to an abrupt end at the age of 28 on October 14, 1984 at the \u00d6M race in H\u00f6hnhart. Hansi had a serious crash and has been in a wheelchair ever since due to paraplegia. Despite his tragic fate, he has not lost his passion for the sport.
